He served as executive producer on the film, which hit theaters on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI had the benefit of seeing Jaafar\u2019s transformation over pictures I\u2019d seen on a phone or a computer,\u201d he said. \u201cBut the first time that I saw him in person in his hair and makeup was <a data-yga=\"{\" ylinkelement=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.com\/video\/132332125\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:really an emotional shock.\u201d;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">really an emotional shock.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The biopic charts Michael Jackson\u2019s career starting as a kid with the Jackson 5 to his eventual rise as a beloved musical icon. The movie also features Colman Domingo as Jackson patriarch Joseph Jackson and Nia Long as the family\u2019s mom, Katherine Jackson, in addition to Jaafar <a data-yga=\"{\" ylinkelement=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2026\/04\/24\/michael-jackson-second-family-sexual-abuse\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:as Michael.;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">as Michael.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI had not seen my father in a long time,\u201d Prince explained.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cJaafar just <a data-yga=\"{\" ylinkelement=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/ew.com\/michael-jackson-son-prince-jackson-got-emotional-seeing-cousin-jaafar-as-his-father-for-biopic-11957897\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:embodied him,;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">embodied him,<\/a> and brought him back in that moment,\u201d he continued, fighting back emotion. \u201cIt was difficult to maintain and keep composure because I really just wanted to give him a hug in that moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Jackson shared Prince \u2014 whose real name is Michael Jr. \u2014 with ex-wife Debbie Rowe, to whom he was married between 1996 and 2000. A year after Prince\u2019s birth, the couple had their daughter, Paris Jackson.
