The 31-year-old\u2019s absence ended a streak of 213 consecutive games played.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Athletics designated infielder Andy Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez for assignment to make room for Rooker on the roster.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Rooker was hitting .146 (6 for 41) with two home runs, six walks and eight RBIs before the injury.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Last season, he hit .262 with 30 homers and 89 RBIs and earned his second All-Star selection. He also took part in the Home Run Derby.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez was claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers in February and made the opening day roster. He was 2 for 17 in 11 games.
