Sheets was found dead in his Arizona home from an apparent suicide around 2 a.m. local time on Wednesday, April 22. According to a press release from the Lake Havasu City Police Department, officers discovered the reality star when responding to \u201ca reported deceased individual.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUpon arrival, officers located a male subject who suffered from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head,\u201d per the release. \u201cThe male was pronounced deceased on scene.”<\/p>\n
Authorities said the incident is under active investigation and asked for anyone with information to contact the LHCPD at 928-855-1171. Sgt. Kyle Ridgway from the LHCPD told PEOPLE they are also looking into cyberbullying allegations<\/a> brought to light by Sheets’ Storage Wars costar Ren\u00e9 Nezhoda<\/a>.<\/p>\n In an Instagram post<\/a> on April 22, Nezhoda said someone was “really, really tormenting [Sheets] lately” and “cyberbullying” him.<\/p>\n \u201cYou never know what demons somebody faces and what they go through and what you might push them through. And I also highly encourage law enforcement \u2014 Darrell has been posting a lot about the guy that has been cyberbullying and torturing him, and I really hope they look into that guy, and that\u2019s just not a pass,” Nezhoda continued. “Because it\u2019s just not right.\u201d<\/p>\n He also claimed that he and Sheets were “friends” despite fans thinking “we hated each other because we competed a lot on the show.”<\/p>\n \u201cWe talked every now and then,” Nezhoda said. “He was a very hard worker that cared more than anyone I\u2019ve ever met about their family, about his son, about Zoe [his granddaughter], pretty much [all the] people in his life.\u201d<\/p>\n Brandon Sheets and Darrell Sheets in 2012 Sheets was known for his 163-episode tenure on Storage Wars, which follows professional buyers who compete to bid on storage lockers. In the state of California, if rent on a storage locker isn’t paid for three months, the contents can be sold by an auctioneer.<\/p>\n He first appeared on the series\u2019 debut season in 2010 and went on to earn the nickname “the Gambler.\u201d Over the course of his career, Sheets scored several major wins through storage auctions, including four Picassos and a lucrative comic book collection. His son, Brandon, was also featured on the show.<\/p>\n Following the news of his death, a spokesperson for A&E said a statement: “We are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family, Darrell ‘The Gambler’ Sheets.
