Team Canada has added a handful of notable names to its roster as it looks to win its first gold medal at the Men\u2019s World Hockey Championship since 2023 this year. <\/p>\n
According to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger, San Jose Sharks<\/a> star sophomore Macklin Celebrini<\/a>, Winnipeg Jets<\/a> centre Mark Scheifele<\/a>, New York Islanders<\/a> forward Mathew Barzal<\/a> and Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> veteran defenceman Morgan Rielly<\/a> have all committed to play for Team Canada at the upcoming world championship. <\/p>\n Penn State forward Gavin McKenna, the projected No. 1 pick for this year\u2019s NHL Draft, will also play for Canada. <\/p>\n Team Canada has added some big names to its Men\u2019s World roster. Celebrini, McKenna, Scheifele, Barzal all committed. Morgan Rielly has agreed to go to Switzerland as well. More to come.<\/p>\n \u2014 Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) April 27, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n Celebrini, 19, was one of the best players in the NHL this season, scoring 45 goals and 70 assists over 82 games, setting a Sharks franchise record for points in the process. <\/p>\n The North Vancouver native also represented Canada at the Winter Olympics in Italy, scoring five goals with five assists over six games. Celebrini scored three goals and three assists over eight games at last year\u2019s world championship. <\/p>\n McKenna, 18, has 15 goals and 36 assists over 35 games for Penn State this season. <\/p>\n Scheifele posted a career-high 103 points this season, including 36 goals and 67 assists. <\/p>\n The 28-year-old Barzal had 19 goals and 53 assists over 81 games for the Isles. <\/p>\n Scheifele hasn\u2019t played in a world championship since 2017, while Barzal last played in 2022. <\/p>\n Rielly, 32, scored 11 goals and 25 assists over 78 games in 2025-26. He won gold with Team Canada at the 2016 World Championship. <\/p>\n Dreger announced last week that Columbus Blue Jackets<\/a> goalie Jet Greaves<\/a> also earned a spot on Team Canada. <\/p>\n Canada posted a perfect 6-0 record in round robin robin play last year before being upset by Denmark, 2-1, in the quarter-final. <\/p>\n The 2026 tournament is set to take place in Zurich and Fribourg, Switzerland from May 15-31. <\/p>\n All games will be broadcasted on TSN, TSN.ca and the TSN App.<\/a><\/p>\n
