U.S. President Donald Trump<\/a> is calling for ABC to fire late-night host Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> after he called First Lady Melania Trump<\/a> an \u201cexpectant widow\u201d during a segment that aired two days before a gunman opened fire outside the White House Correspondents\u2019 Association dinner<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a post on Truth Social Monday<\/a>, Trump said that Kimmel, \u201cwho is in no way funny as attested by his terrible Television ratings,\u201d made a statement on Jimmy Kimmel Live! \u201cthat is really shocking.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe showed a fake video of the First Lady, Melania, and our son, Barron, like they were actually sitting in his studio, listening to him speak, which they weren\u2019t, and never would be,\u201d Trump wrote. \u201cHe then stated, \u2018Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA day later a lunatic tried entering the ballroom of the White House Correspondents Dinner, loaded up with a shotgun, handgun, and many knives. He was there for a very obvious and sinister reason,\u201d Trump continued.<\/p>\n

Trump said that he appreciated that \u201cmany people\u201d are \u201cincensed by Kimmel\u2019s despicable call to violence, and normally would not be responsive to anything that he said but, this is something far beyond the pale.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC,\u201d Trump added.<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s post came after his wife, Melania, shared a statement on X<\/a> Monday, calling for ABC to \u201ctake a stand\u201d against Kimmel over his comments.<\/p>\n

\u201cKimmel\u2019s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country,\u201d Melania wrote. \u201cHis monologue about my family isn\u2019t comedy \u2014 his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America.\u201d<\/p>\n

Melania said that \u201cpeople like Kimmel\u201d shouldn\u2019t have \u201cthe opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him,\u201d she continued. \u201cEnough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC\u2019s leadership enable Kimmel\u2019s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel\u2019s monologue aired Thursday on<\/a>\u00a0Jimmy Kimmel Live! and included a joke that Melania had \u201ca glow like an expectant widow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel was speaking during a mock version of the White House Correspondents\u2019 Association dinner, where he pretended to be the host.<\/p>\n

\u201cWelcome to the 2026 correspondents\u2019 dinner. Look at you all dressed up in formal wear, dresses, tuxedos. I haven\u2019t seen this much black since every page of the Trump-Epstein files,\u201d Kimmel said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m happy you decided to stay, Mr. President. And don\u2019t worry, if we bruise your ego, it\u2019ll only make your hands look less disgusting,\u201d Kimmel continued. \u201cThe president didn\u2019t want me to tell any jokes about him tonight but he also didn\u2019t want to pay me $130,000 to shut up, so here we are.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd of course, our first lady, Melania, is here. So beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow,\u201d Kimmel said. \u201cYou know, Melania\u2019s birthday is on Sunday. That\u2019s right. She\u2019s planning to celebrate at home, the same way she always does, looking out a window and whispering, \u2018What have I done?’\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel went on to speak about the first lady\u2019s documentary, titled Melania, which he said had \u201ca score of 10 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to congratulate you, Madam first lady, on your huge accomplishment. The world\u2019s first motionless picture,\u201d Kimmel said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore we go any further, Melania, this is Donald. Donald, this is Melania,\u201d Kimmel continued. \u201cThat was my impression of Jeffrey Epstein<\/a>. Pretty good, right?\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel\u2019s comments come weeks after Melania denied reports that Epstein first introduced her to Trump<\/a> while delivering a statement at the White House earlier this month, denying ties to \u201cthe disgraceful\u201d Epstein and any knowledge of his crimes.<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s latest call for ABC to fire Kimmel comes after his future looked questionable in September, when ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/a> for remarks made<\/a> following the killing of right-wing political commentator Charlie Kirk<\/a>, who died after being shot at a Turning Point USA rally on Sept. 10. Following a public outcry, ABC lifted the suspension<\/a>, and Kimmel returned to the air<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Trump urged the network to \u201cget the bum off the air<\/a>\u201d in a social media post in November. The post followed Kimmel\u2019s nearly 10-minute monologue about Trump and the Epstein files<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In his monologue, one day after the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate voted in quick succession to pass a bill<\/a> compelling the Department of Justice to release files relating to the late convicted sex offender, Kimmel said: \u201cWe are now one step closer to answering the question: What did the president know, and how old were these women when he knew it?\u201d<\/p>\n

Hours after the show aired, Trump posted on Truth Social that\u00a0Jimmy Kimmel Live!\u00a0should be taken off the air again.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy does ABC Fake News keep Jimmy Kimmel, a man with NO TALENT and VERY POOR TELEVISION RATINGS, on the air?\u201d Trump wrote<\/a>. \u201cWhy do the TV Syndicates put up with it?\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump also called Kimmel\u2019s comments \u201ctotally biased.\u201d<\/p>\n
