The German dropped serve while serving for the match at 5-4 in the second set, but regrouped to seal the win in one hour and 37 minutes.<\/p>\n Alexander Blockx<\/a> earned the biggest win of his career by upsetting World No. 5 Felix Auger-Aliassime<\/a> 7-6(3), 6-3 in the third round. With his one-hour, 33-minute triumph, the 21-year-old became the first Belgian man to beat a Top 5 opponent on clay since David Goffin<\/a> defeated then-No. 2 Novak Djokovic<\/a> in Monte-Carlo in 2017. Blockx will next face Francisco Cerundolo<\/a>.<\/p>\n Cerundolo booked his fourth-round spot with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph against Luciano Darderi<\/a>. The Argentine secured a straightforward win, though the match included a moment of drama when Cerundolo executed this unconventional but legal over-the-net shot in the opening set.<\/p>\n In other action, defending champion Casper Ruud<\/a> extended his Madrid winning streak to eight matches with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina<\/a>. The Norwegian, who has dropped just five games across two matches so far, will face Stefanos Tsitsipas<\/a> in the fourth round.<\/p>\n Tsitsipas, the 2019 finalist, earned a smooth third-round triumph. The 27-year-old eased past hometown favourite Daniel Merida<\/a> 6-4, 6-2. The 27-year-old struck cleanly throughout the clash, highlighted by this crisp forehand pass en route to a 68-minute victory in the Spanish capital.<\/p>\n Two-time quarter-finalist Daniil Medvedev<\/a> also booked his fourth round spot. The 30-year-old cruised past #NextGenATP star Nicolai Budkov Kjaer<\/a> 6-3, 6-2 in 69 minutes. The seventh seed will next face Flavio Cobolli<\/a>.<\/p>\n Jakub Mensik<\/a> concluded the day’s action with a 6-4, 7-6(11) victory against Karen Khachanov<\/a>.
