Manitoba Public Insurance is expanding driver training and testing options ahead of the busy summer season.<\/p>\n
MPI says it will offer condensed Driver Z courses and add Class 5 road test appointments on the last Saturday of each month at its Main Street Service Centre in Winnipeg, starting June 27.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know that summer is prime time for many Manitobans, especially teens, to get their driver\u2019s licences,\u201d said Dana Frazer, MPI\u2019s Vice President and Chief Operations Officer.<\/p>\n
More courses, more flexibility<\/p>\n
Driver Z, MPI\u2019s high school driver education program, is doubling its summer capacity to 1,200 spots across the province.<\/p>\n
For the first time, both daytime and evening classes will be offered. The condensed program runs about two-and-a-half weeks and includes in-car and virtual learning.<\/p>\n
Students pay $50, while MPI covers the remaining cost.<\/p>\n
Registration opens in May, with courses starting in July.<\/p>\n
Extra road test appointments<\/p>\n
MPI is also adding weekend road tests to help meet demand.<\/p>\n
Appointments will be available one Saturday per month, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and can be booked up to 30 days in advance.<\/p>\n
