Ground, aerial response continues for Ferrabee wildfire near Hell\u2019s Gate<\/p>\n

The Ferrabee wildfire near Hell\u2019s Gate remains out of control at 36 hectares as of Monday night (April 27), according to BC Wildfire Service.<\/p>\n
The increase from 27 hectares on Saturday to 36 hectares reflects \u201cslow growth across slope in inoperable terrain\u201d, per the latest update.<\/p>\n
Crews conducted a small planned ignition on Monday afternoon to try connect an established containment line along the rock slope with the highway. The response from Coastal Fire Centre included more than 30 ground personnel alongside aerial support.<\/p>\n
The 36-hectare blaze was discovered on Thursday (April 23) roughly 2.5 km southeast of Hell\u2019s Gate between Hope and Lytton.<\/p>\n
The blaze is visible from the highway and nearby communities, and BC Wildfire Service said periodic lane closures on Highway 1 are possible due to crews and equipment working.<\/p>\n
