The Edmonton Oilers have a 4-1 lead over the Anaheim Ducks after the second period in Game 5 of their first-round playoff series on Tuesday night.

The Ducks got on the board midway through the second period on the power play with Colton Dach in the box as Mason McTavish found Alex Killorn in front of the net to beat Connor Ingram to make it 3-1.

The Oilers would get another opportunity on the man advantage when Ducks defenceman Jacob Trouba went off for hooking and they would capitalize.

Evan Bouchard made a big play to hold the puck in at the blueline and dished off to Connor McDavid streaking in, who would find Leon Draisaitl for his second of the game as he one-timed the puck past Ville Husso for the 4-1 lead.

Around midway through the period, the Oilers had an injury scare as defenceman Connor Murphy went down the tunnel after breaking up a 2-on-1. After getting up, he had his left glove off and was shaking out his left hand/wrist before departing with the team’s athletic trainer.

He would return to the bench shortly after.

In the first period, the Oilers struck first just over two minutes in as Bouchard found a streaking Vasily Podkolzin who beat Lukas Dostal up high for the 1-0 lead. It was Edmonton’s first shot on goal.

Hyman doubled Edmonton’s lead five minutes later as he redirected a shot from the point by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins past Dostal to make it 2-0.

Draisaitl made it a 3-0 game two minutes later as he tipped in a shot from Bouchard past Dostal.

Draisaitl’s goal would end Dostal’s night after he allowed three goals on eight shots, giving way to Husso.
