Shortstop Andres Gimenez has been playing through tightness in his hamstrings, causing him to be extra careful running the bases, Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi reported on Tuesday. <\/p>\n
“I don’t know if it’s how I play defence or offence or baserunning,” Gimenez said. “But it’s something that we’re working on.”<\/p>\n
The 27-year-old missed the Blue Jays’ three games while resting from the hamstring issue, but has not been placed on the injured list. He hit ninth on Tuesday, getting one hit in three at-bats with a run scored. <\/p>\n
A three-time Gold Glove winner at second base, this is Gimenez’s first season playing full-time at shortstop. So far he’s graded out well, with 75th percentile range and a plus-one fielding run value, according to Statcast.<\/p>\n
Gimenez has also been off to a hot start in the box, slugging three homers, driving in a team-high 16 runs and posting a .781 OPS. <\/p>\n
