When the summer schedule comes into effect on June 21, riders will enjoy improved service on the following routes:<\/p>\n
D19: Corydon<\/a> \u2013 The terminal will be located on Kennedy Street, bringing transit closer to the Winnipeg Clinic, Graham Avenue, Manitoba Hydro Place, and Canada Life CentreD16: Notre Dame<\/a> \u2013 For simpler, more reliable service, this route will be split into two:The new D16 will go from Polo Park to Downtown via Academy, River\/Stradbrook, Tache and MainThe new D18 will go from RRC Notre Dame to Downtown via Notre Dame and William<\/p>\n We\u2019ve also recommended an extension to On-Request zone 106<\/a>. This would move the south boundary from Edison Avenue to Kimberly Avenue, improving service in the evenings and on weekends.<\/p>\n The Standing Policy Committee on Public Works will consider this change<\/a> on May 5. <\/p>\n Improvements proposed for fall<\/p>\n The Committee will also consider improvements to six routes. These changes are designed to:<\/p>\n Add service where there is a higher demandAdjust service on routes with lower-than-expected ridershipSimplify routes for passengers and bus operators<\/p>\n If approved, these changes would go into effect in September:<\/p>\n FX4: Gateway – Portage<\/a> \u2013 We would move the terminal this route uses at Polo Park from St. James Street to Portage Avenue. The FX4 would be able to turn left out of Polo Park, simplifying the route for passengers and operators.48: Transcona Blvd – McMeans<\/a> \u2013 We would extend the route from Kildonan Place to the Crossroads Station at Walmart. This recommendation is based on passenger feedback and ridership demand.649: Chevrier<\/a> \u2013 We would extend this route to continue along Scurfield Boulevard through more of Whyte Ridge. This change would serve more residents, including a higher-density development.650: McGillivray<\/a> \u2013 Instead of turning onto Scurfield Boulevard, this route would continue along Fleetwood Road. We are recommending this adjustment due to lower-than-expected ridership. We would use the savings from this adjustment to fund the extension of route 649.678: Waverley West – Chancellor<\/a> & 679: Waverley <\/a>\u2013 We are recommending moving the terminal for both routes from Dafoe Road to University Crescent, south of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Office:Route 678 would travel along University CrescentRoute 679 would travel on Chancellor Drive instead of Abinojii Mikanah. <\/p>\n These changes would address congestion at the main U of M terminal, make it simpler for riders, and reduce pressure on the Blue Line.<\/p>\n Even more improvements to come<\/p>\n All these improvements complement the adjustments we\u2019ve already made, including:<\/p>\n Together, these changes improve reliability, respond to ridership demand, and simplify routes.<\/p>\n Give Transit a try<\/p>\n If you\u2019re new to Transit, or haven\u2019t used it in a while, give it a try! <\/p>\n You can easily plan your trip by using Navigo<\/a> or another dedicated transit trip planner.
