A few months before the next elections provincial elections, Premier Christine Fr\u00e9chette announced a tax cut of one percentage point for 75,000 small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in Quebec.<\/p>\n
This means savings of nearly $630 million over five years for the companies involved. \u201cEach entrepreneur could thus save up to $5,000 per year,\u201d the government press release emphasized.<\/p>\n
Fr\u00e9chette made the announcement Wednesday morning in Beauce, accompanied by Finance Minister Eric Girard, Minister Delegate for the Economy Daniel Bernard, and MNA for Beauce-Nord Luc Proven\u00e7al.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis measure aims to make local SMEs even more competitive. The reduction in the tax rate will allow them to free up additional room to maneuver to continue to invest, innovate and contribute fully to the growth of the Quebec economy,\u201d the government maintains.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A reminder that one of Fr\u00e9chette\u2019s first measures was the reimbursement, in whole or in part, of the \u201cwelcome tax\u201d for new buyers.<\/p>\n
In his latest budget, Girard set aside $1.3 billion over five years for the new premier.\u00a0<\/p>\n
