The Golden State Warriors<\/a> will have their fair share of free agent\/trade options this summer.<\/p>\n

Milwaukee Bucks<\/a> standout Giannis Antetokounmpo and Los Angeles Clippers<\/a> star Kawhi Leonard headline the Dubs\u2019 list of potential targets after a postseason-less 2025-26 campaign.<\/p>\n

However, Blue Man Hoop\u2019s Peter O\u2019Keefe<\/a> believes that reuniting with a four-time NBA champion and five-time All-Star is an underrated move worth considering.<\/p>\n

\u201cKlay Thompson reunion makes sense after Moses Moody injury,\u201d O\u2019Keefe wrote Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter Moody went down against Thompson and the Mavericks<\/a> on March 23, Golden State closed the final 10 games of the regular season by ranking just 15th in 3-point attempts, having ranked a clear first on the season overall.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWith Moody likely to miss the majority of next season, how do Golden State replace a 6-foot-6 wing who can shoot 40% from three on high volume? That sounds exactly like Thompson, making a potential reunion all the more legitimate from a purely basketball standpoint.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most ideal outcome would be if Thompson was actually bought out with a year remaining on his contract, something that’s very unlikely but not impossible to envision. That would allow the 5x All-Star to enter free agency and potentially reunite with the Warriors through that pathway. \u201c<\/p>\n

Transitioning from life with the Warriors to live with Dallas hasn\u2019t been smooth for Thompson thus far.<\/p>\n

While still a three-point specialist at age 36, Thompson\u2019s inconsistent performances and declining on-ball defense have caused many to give him the \u2018washed\u2019 label at this stage of his career (he averaged a career-low 11.7 points per game last season in 69 contests and finished with a 119.8 defensive rating).<\/p>\n

Ordinarily, it would be easy to shut down the idea of bringing Thompson back to the Bay for another stint with his play worsening. However, as O\u2019Keefe noted, Moody\u2019s unfortunate setback essentially leaves the franchise no choice but to consider temporarily replacing him with a future Hall of Fame guard with a 40.9% career three-point shooting percentage.<\/p>\n

Obviously, nothing is set in stone, but a Thompson reunion appears more realistic than ever this summer.<\/p>\n
