{"id":637574,"date":"2026-04-30T01:44:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-30T01:44:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/637574\/"},"modified":"2026-04-30T01:44:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T01:44:10","slug":"panthers-agm-brett-peterson-a-new-name-linked-to-canucks-gm-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/637574\/","title":{"rendered":"Panthers AGM Brett Peterson a new name linked to Canucks GM job"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You can add Florida Panthers assistant general manager Brett Peterson\u2019s name to the list of candidates for the <a class=\"text-accent\" href=\"https:\/\/canucksarmy.com\/vancouver-canucks-player-stats\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vancouver Canucks<\/a>\u2018 vacant GM position.<\/p>\n<p>According to The Athletic\u2019s Thomas Drance, Peterson is another candidate for the Canucks\u2019 GM job.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have a new name that I can confirm is part of this process: Brett Peterson\u201d Drance said on Wednesday\u2019s edition of Canucks Talk on Sportsnet 650.\u00a0\u201cBrett Peterson is an assistant general manager with the Florida Panthers, and I can confirm that he\u2019s been part of this process and interviewed. Really interesting background, he used to be at Wasserman\u2026 Brett Peterson\u2019s a name I\u2019m hearing, and I think he\u2019s an impressive guy. This is a longtime agent who\u2019s been with the Panthers since 2020 and has had a front row seat to what\u2019s become a mini dynasty in this cap era\u2026 that\u2019s a name to look for especially as we begin to get to a point in the process where the club gets down to brass tacks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Peterson has served in the Panthers\u2019 front office since 2020-21. In the time since then, the Panthers have obviously enjoyed tremendous success, capturing back-to-back Stanley Cups the last two seasons. Peterson has also served as GM and AGM for Team USA at the last three World Championships (GM in 2024 and 2026, AGM in 2025).<\/p>\n<p>A native of Northborough, Massachusets, the 44-year-old Peterson spent four seasons as a player at Boston College before embarking on a five-year pro career, spending time in the ECHL and AHL. Following that playing career, Peterson became a player agent. He joined Acme World Sports (founded by current Panthers GM Bill Zito) and later became the Vice President of Hockey for Wasserman Media Group, representing Tuuka Rask, TJ Oshie, and other high-profile NHLers.
