Ildemaro Vargas had reached the point of his career where nothing new was supposed to happen.<\/p>\n

He’d played a lot of MLB games. He was a utility infielder, through and through. He brought versatility to the table, but not a lot of upside.<\/p>\n

Well, except then the calendar turned to 2026.<\/p>\n

Vargas is hitting .372 this season with six home runs and a 1.091 OPS.<\/p>\n

He has a 22-game hitting streak to start the season, one of the best in MLB history:<\/p>\n
