Lance Stroll\u2019s commitment to Formula 1 has reportedly come under fire from some of his peers, despite him nearing the milestone of 200 Grand Prix entries.<\/p>\n

With his father, Lawrence, owning the Aston Martin F1 team, Stroll\u2019s seat is largely secure. Over his career, he has picked up 325 points along with a pole position and a podium finish. While those numbers aren\u2019t spectacular over eight years, it still feels unfair to put him in the same bracket as some of the pay drivers from previous eras.<\/p>\n

Stroll made his debut with Williams back in 2017 before joining Racing Point \u2013 which would later become Aston Martin \u2013 following his father\u2019s investment in 2019.<\/p>\n

Over the last three seasons, Stroll has struggled against teammate Fernando Alonso. He currently trails Alonso by two points in this year\u2019s standings but hasn\u2019t managed to outqualify him since the start of their partnership.<\/p>\n

Lance Stroll Reportedly the \u2018Least Popular\u2019 Driver Among Peers<\/p>\n

According to Sport Bild<\/a>, Stroll has been viewed as the \u2018least popular\u2019 driver on the grid for some time now. The general view among his peers is that he lacks both the passion and ability required to hold down a spot in F1.<\/p>\n

Some within the paddock believe his presence in F1 is due more to his father\u2019s financial backing than racing merit. Despite winning three single-seater titles before reaching Formula 1, George Russell<\/a> once claimed that Stroll benefited from team orders during those campaigns.<\/p>\n

This season isn\u2019t helping his case either. Aston Martin<\/a> have struggled with pace, and Stroll is yet to finish a race, leaving him at the bottom of the standings.<\/p>\n

His contract runs out at the end of this year, but any decision on whether he continues will likely be his own. He did take part in a GT3 race over the break, but there\u2019s no clear sign that he\u2019s considering a switch away from Formula 1.<\/p>\n

Why Stroll\u2019s low-key approach doesn\u2019t mean he\u2019s not committed<\/p>\n

Stroll is rarely the most enthusiastic when it comes to media obligations, but that doesn\u2019t necessarily reflect a lack of commitment to racing itself.<\/p>\n

In 2023, he had surgery on his right wrist just days before the season began, following a cycling accident. Still, he made it back for the Bahrain opener and managed a top-six finish. That kind of determination isn\u2019t something you\u2019d expect from someone who doesn\u2019t care.<\/p>\n

If Stroll was disinterested in competing, he had every reason to take time off. Instead, he went straight back into action.<\/p>\n

And Aston Martin boss Mike Krack feels criticism of Stroll has been \u2018very unfair\u2019, suggesting he\u2019s often misunderstood and miscast as one of F1\u2019s \u2018bad guys\u2019 without good reason.<\/p>\n
