{"id":638808,"date":"2026-04-30T15:26:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-30T15:26:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/638808\/"},"modified":"2026-04-30T15:26:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T15:26:08","slug":"officials-reporting-numerous-polar-bear-sightings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/638808\/","title":{"rendered":"Officials Reporting Numerous Polar Bear Sightings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/polar-bear-sighting-on-northern-peninsula-st-carols-via-rcmp.jpg\" class=\"header-image\" alt=\"Officials Reporting Numerous Polar Bear Sightings\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">A polar bear on the Northern Peninsula in 2023 (RCMP)<\/p>\n<p>There have been more polar bear sightings as ice continues to drift southward.<\/p>\n<p>Fogo Island RCMP are warning of a polar bear spotted near Island Harbour.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re reminding residents to keep their pets indoors or to keep a close eye on them while outside. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, wildlife officers are monitoring the situation following polar bear sightings in and around St. Lewis on the southeast coast of Labrador. <\/p>\n<p>They warn residents never to approach a bear and if you do encounter one of the animals, take note of its behaviour. <\/p>\n<p>If the bear has not seen you, back away quietly and leave the area while trying to stay downwind.
