{"id":639575,"date":"2026-04-30T23:12:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-30T23:12:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/639575\/"},"modified":"2026-04-30T23:12:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T23:12:08","slug":"after-signing-with-dolphins-cline-drafted-to-cfl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/639575\/","title":{"rendered":"After signing with Dolphins, Cline drafted to CFL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From undrafted, to a couple of opportunities in a matter of two days.<\/p>\n<p>Following the NFL Draft, former BC O-lineman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/kevin-cline-73975\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kevin Cline <\/a>signed with a familiar face, taking an opportunity to go compete at Dolphins minicamp with Jeff Hafley.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday night, Cline was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bluebombers.com\/2026\/04\/28\/meet-the-blue-bombers-2026-draft-class\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers<\/a> in the second round (20th overall) of the CFL Draft. Cline was considered one of the best offensive linemen available in the Canadian draft.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what the team put on its site when explaining why Cline was a good pick for the Blue Bombers:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe club likely won\u2019t see him this year as he\u2019s headed to training camp with the Fish but his size and skill makes him worth the slight risk at this stage in the draft. If he comes to Winnipeg next year, the team\u2019s Canadian content upfront improves instantly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 6\u20197,\u201d 320lb. Cline played six seasons with the Eagles (2020-25), starting 11 games at right tackle last year. The CFL is in his family too, as his father Mike played for the Ottawa Rough Riders (1986-88). <\/p>\n<p>If Cline fails to make the Dolphins, he will end up with Winnipeg. The Blue Bombers now have his rights exclusively if he doesn\u2019t end up staying in Miami, no other CFL team can negotiate with him. <\/p>\n<p>While Cline wasn\u2019t always a favorite of fans, he\u2019s now another name on the list of guys that BC is producing talented enough to get looks at the professional level. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"From undrafted, to a couple of opportunities in a matter of two days.
