{"id":639925,"date":"2026-05-01T03:29:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T03:29:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/639925\/"},"modified":"2026-05-01T03:29:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T03:29:09","slug":"hamilton-shooting-1-person-dead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/639925\/","title":{"rendered":"Hamilton shooting: 1 person dead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">One person has died following a shooting in downtown Hamilton on Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Hamilton police said a call came in shortly before 6:30 p.m. for a shooting at 191 Main St. W, near Caroline Street South.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cUpon arrival, one male victim was located with injuries consistent with a gunshot and was transported to hospital in critical condition,\u201d police told CP24.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">They said the victim has since been pronounced dead. His identity has not been released.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ECVFQGVFJ5F2DG454IJ4APMHSI.png\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/>Hamilton shooting Police are on the scene of a fatal shooting at 191 Main St. W. in Hamilton on Thursday, April 30, 2026. (CTV News) <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">It is Hamilton\u2019s third homicide of the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police added that they believe there may be more injuries among the parties who fled the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cWe are working on suspect(s) description at this time. No firearm has been recovered yet,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The circumstances that led to the shooting are not immediately known.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">They are asking the public to stay out of the area while they investigate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">191 Main St. West is an apartment building managed by the CityHousing Hamilton Corporation, a municipally owned affordable housing provider.
