Dinner and show fights against childhood cancer<\/p>\n

Aldergrove is rallying behind local families as the Mangat family hosts its first dinner, dance, and comedy night fundraiser for families in need.<\/p>\n
The Comedy Night Dinner & Live Music Fundraiser will take place Saturday, May 9 5 p.m. at St. Dunstan\u2019s Anglican Church (3025 264 St.) Proceeds will go to two families whose children are affected by cancer, said organizer Jodi Mangat. <\/p>\n
The event is expecting 160 guests, and interest has been strong, with 80 per cent of tickets already sold.<\/p>\n
People will have the opportunity to come together while helping families dealing with the emotional and financial strain that often comes with a child\u2019s cancer diagnosis. The funds raised will be split between the two families.<\/p>\n
The fundraiser has also drawn support from a long list of sponsors from Aldergrove and Langley.<\/p>\n
Mangat quoted the initiative\u2019s mission: \u201c\u2018Together we fight\u2019 for the fight against childhood cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sponsors are helping cover key parts of the evening, including dinner, drinks, live music, venue costs, and event features such as a photo booth and raffle prizes.<\/p>\n
Mangat said organizers are still hoping to secure a few more sponsors before the event takes place.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am so proud to be part of such a giving community,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe support that we receive with our fundraising efforts is very heartwarming.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tickets are available for $40 each. Attendees can contact Mangat at 604-825-1594 to reserve their spot.<\/p>\n
The upcoming event is one of the charitable efforts tied to the Mangat family\u2019s fundraising work.<\/p>\n
People can also mark their calendars for the next major fundraiser on the weekend of Aug. 22 and 23, when the family\u2019s annual softball tournament returns.<\/p>\n
