{"id":640034,"date":"2026-05-01T04:38:14","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T04:38:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/640034\/"},"modified":"2026-05-01T04:38:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T04:38:14","slug":"edmonton-oilers-trail-anaheim-ducks-after-first-period-in-do-or-die-game-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/640034\/","title":{"rendered":"Edmonton Oilers trail Anaheim Ducks after first period in do-or-die Game 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/edmonton-oilers\/22\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/edmonton-oilers\/22\" target=\"_blank\">Edmonton Oilers<\/a> trail the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/anaheim-ducks\/24\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/anaheim-ducks\/24\" target=\"_blank\">Anaheim Ducks<\/a> 3-1 through 20 minutes in a do-or-die Game 6 at the Honda Center Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Ducks lead the Oilers 3-2 in the series.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">After each team had only two shots apiece halfway through the period, Anaheim did something they haven\u2019t done all series: score the first goal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A deflection off of Ducks forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/ryan-poehling\/8480068\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/ryan-poehling\/8480068\" target=\"_blank\">Ryan Poehling<\/a> would find its way past Oilers netminder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/connor-ingram\/8478971\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/connor-ingram\/8478971\" target=\"_blank\">Connor Ingram<\/a>, giving the Ducks the advantage and Poehling\u2019s team-leading fourth goal in the series.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The next goal also came from the home team, with winger <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/chris-kreider\/8475184\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/chris-kreider\/8475184\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Kreider<\/a> sending a one-timer into the top corner past Ingram, giving the Ducks the 2-0 lead on his 35th birthday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Not even two minutes later, however, the Oilers got on the board.
