Secretary of Sport Adam van Koeverden said at an announcement in Vancouver on Thursday that the funds are part of $250 million Ottawa has earmarked for sports infrastructure across the country. <\/p>\n
The federal government announced in its spring economic update this week that it’s setting aside $660 million over the next five years for national sport organizations that have faced mounting deficits for years.<\/p>\n
Canada Soccer says the centre will include both high-performance training environments and accessible, community-focused sport and recreation facilities. <\/p>\n
The national sports organization has received 18 submissions from municipalities and other groups interested in partnering on the project, and a formal request for proposals process is set to begin within the next two months.<\/p>\n
