{"id":642299,"date":"2026-05-02T04:30:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-02T04:30:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/642299\/"},"modified":"2026-05-02T04:30:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-02T04:30:08","slug":"marjolein-busstras-house-of-hope-takes-top-jury-prize","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/642299\/","title":{"rendered":"Marjolein Busstra\u2019s House of Hope Takes Top Jury Prize"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tMarjolein Busstra\u2019s House of Hope, a film about a Palestinian couple teaching young students non-violent resistance in an elementary school in the occupied West Bank, picked up the best\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/international\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">international<\/a>\u00a0feature\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/documentary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">documentary<\/a>\u00a0prize at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/hot-docs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Hot Docs<\/a>\u00a0Canadian International Documentary Festival on Friday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe top jury prize win at the festival means Busstra\u2019s film, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/palestine\/\" id=\"auto-tag_palestine_1\" data-tag=\"palestine\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Palestine<\/a>-Netherlands co-production that world premiered at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/idfa\/\" id=\"auto-tag_idfa_1\" data-tag=\"idfa\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">IDFA<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/amsterdam\/\" id=\"auto-tag_amsterdam_1\" data-tag=\"amsterdam\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Amsterdam<\/a>, will qualify for consideration in the best documentary feature category at the Academy Awards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tOther winners at Hot Docs include the best Canadian feature documentary prize going to Saigon Story: Two Shootings in the Forest Kingdom, a film about two families connected by Eddie Adam\u2019s iconic photo from Oscar-nominated director Kim Nguyen.
