Former PGA Tour<\/a> winner Greg Chalmers was disqualified from last week’s event on the senior circuit for a ‘freaky’ reason.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chalmers teed it up at the Boeing Classic and the 51-year-old made a decent start at The Club at Snoqualmie Ridge in Washington<\/p>\n

Rounds of 69 and 71 saw the 51-year-old Australian safely make the cut.\u00a0<\/p>\n

His tournament, however, came to an abrupt end eight holes into his third round after he fell foul of the golf rules.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chalmers explained on his X account that the infraction occurred on the third hole when he noticed a ‘blast motion sensor’ on the bottom of his gap wedge.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He had just hacked his golf ball out of the sand and noticed the sensor on the club when he was putting it back in his bag.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chalmers said he thought he had lost it ‘ages ago’ and turned to a rules official for some guidance.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A blast motion sensor is a small, lightweight device that attaches to the grip of the club that can track swing and stroke metrics.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chalmer said he was told that after a call to the United States Golf Association, his club was deemed non-conforming and he had to be disqualified.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chalmers did not seem too annoyed, though, and he paid tribute to his fellow Aussie Steve Allan.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“On the plus side Steve Allan won again and I caught and earlier flight to Calgary,” he wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Allan held off charges from former Open winners Stewart Cink and Ernie Els to claim his third PGA Tour Champions win.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Not the only DQ<\/p>\n

Chalmers wasn’t alone last week in getting disqualified from a professional golf event.\u00a0<\/p>\n

DP World Tour players Callum Hill and Sam Bairstow were booted out of the inaugural Nexo Championship at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bairstow signed for the wrong score whilst Hill decided not to hole out<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Grant Forrest won the tournament and was even Facetimed by the sitting US president<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
