Grigor Dimitrov has officially pulled out of the upcoming US Open, having struggled with an injury since Wimbledon<\/a> earlier this year. The Bulgarian had been on the verge of a famous victory over eventual champion Jannik Sinner<\/a>, but was forced to retire from the round-of-16 clash and hasn’t been seen in competitive action since.<\/p>\n

Dimitrov injured his pectoral muscle in the Sinner clash and has been unable to recover from the problem in time to line up at Flushing Meadows later this month. It brings to an end a streak of 58 Slam main draws in a row, which had been the longest active streak on the ATP Tour.<\/p>\n

As a result of Dimitrov pulling out of the US Open, Alejandro Tabilo has been named as the 34-year-old’s replacement.<\/p>\n

Speaking shortly after his Wimbledon<\/a> withdrawal, Dimitrov posted on social media: “Sometimes the heart wants to keep going\u2026 but the universe has a different plan for us,” wrote Dimitrov in a post on Instagram<\/a>, which included a photo of himself in a hospital bed. Having to withdraw from this match at Wimbledon<\/a> was one of the most painful moments of my career.<\/p>\n
