{"id":644215,"date":"2026-05-03T02:11:15","date_gmt":"2026-05-03T02:11:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/644215\/"},"modified":"2026-05-03T02:11:15","modified_gmt":"2026-05-03T02:11:15","slug":"toronto-distraction-thefts-2-suspects-sought","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/644215\/","title":{"rendered":"Toronto distraction thefts: 2 suspects sought"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Two suspects are wanted in connection with two distraction thefts in Scarborough targeting elderly people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Toronto police said the first one occurred on April 5 in the area of <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/quEh8p1dUw5TQWBd7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/quEh8p1dUw5TQWBd7\">Birchmount Road and Eglinton Avenue East<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A man was sitting in his car when two women approached him and asked for directions to distract him, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tps.ca\/media-centre\/news-releases\/65827\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tps.ca\/media-centre\/news-releases\/65827\/\">police said.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">While he was helping the women, his gold necklace was removed from his neck and replaced with a fake one.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The woman shortly fled in a black SUV.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The other incident happened on April 17 near <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/VvP5KGWUfM1Zctu56\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/VvP5KGWUfM1Zctu56\">Ellesmere and Wye Valley Roads<\/a>, west of Kennedy Road.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A woman approached a female victim and engaged her in conversation, police said. She allegedly tried to remove the victim\u2019s gold chain but was unsuccessful.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The suspect then fled in a black SUV.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">In a news release on Saturday, police identified one suspect as 37-year-old Victoria Miclescu. She is wanted for theft over $5,000 and attempted theft not exceeding $5,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police have not been able to identify the other suspect.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cInvestigators believe that the suspect targets elderly victims,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Two suspects are wanted in connection with two distraction thefts in Scarborough targeting elderly people.
