Pedestrian dies after being hit by impaired driver in Abbotsford<\/p>\n

A pedestrian has died after being struck by an impaired driver who left the scene of an Abbotsford crash on Friday.<\/p>\n
The collision happened around 3:34 p.m. on May 1 at the intersection of Simon Avenue and Emerson Street.<\/p>\n
Emergency crews arrived on scene and found the man suffering from life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle, Sgt. Paul Walker, media relations officer with Abbotsford Police Department stated in a press release.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe involved vehicle initially left the scene but returned a short time later. The female driver was arrested at the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n
Walker later confirmed the man died of his injuries.<\/p>\n
Police said impairment is a factor in this collision and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) was called in to assist.<\/p>\n
Simon Avenue between Allwood Street and Gladwin Road, as well as Emerson Street between South Fraser Way and Simon Avenue, were closed while officers investigated.<\/p>\n
