Filippo Baroncini update after Tour De Pologne crash<\/p>\n

UAE Team Emirates XRG rider Filippo Baroncini has been put in an induced coma to fly back to Italy following his crash on Stage 3 of the Tour de Pologne. The 24-year-old\u2019s condition is described but the crash resulted in multiple facial and clavicular fractures.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the team said the former U23 World Champion Baroncini \u2018sustained multiple facial injuries, including a fractured cervical vertebra (no neurological fallout), and facial and clavicular fractures\u2019.<\/p>\n

The crash occurred in the final 22km of Stage 3 on a tight road where several riders came down into a ditch including race leader Paul Lapeira of Decathlon-AG2R. The race was neutralised at the 15km mark for approximately 15 minutes before a restart that saw GC times neutralised but the stage win still in contention. After the breakaway was caught under the flamme rouge, Ineos Grenadiers\u2019 Ben Turner claimed his first WorldTour victory with Baroncini\u2019s teammate Brandon McNulty later going on to win overall.<\/p>\n

Full Men\u2019s Tour of Britain route announced<\/p>\n

The Men\u2019s Tour of Britain will take place from Tuesday 2nd to Sunday 7th September, departing from Woodbridge in England and finishing in Cardiff, Wales as a nod to Geraint Thomas, who will retire after the race. Remco Evenepoel is expected to be here in one of his last races before he moves to Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe.<\/p>\n

Stage 1: Tuesday 2nd September, Woodbridge \u2013 Southwold, 167.6km<\/p>\n

Stage 2: Wednesday 3rd September, Stowmarket \u2013 Stowmarket, 173.7km<\/p>\n

Wout van Aert to skip World Championships<\/p>\n

Some big names are skipping the upcoming World Championships taking place in Kigali, Rwanda, including Belgium\u2019s Wout van Aert, who will end his season at home in September with the Super 8 Classic. Mathieu van der Poel will also skip the chance to win the rainbow jersey.<\/p>\n

In other World Championship news, all riders will be competing with GPS tracking devices. The technology will be tested at the Tour de Romandie F\u00e9minin\u00a0with one rider per team carrying the device. This comes after the tragic passing of Swiss rider Muriel Furrer during the junior road race at the 2024 Worlds in Z\u00fcrich, where she was reportedly alone for almost an hour and a half after crashing.<\/p>\n

Aurela Nerlo tests positive<\/p>\n

Aurela Nerlo has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for the banned anabolic steroid Ligandrol prior to the Tour de France Femmes, which she did not race. She recently extended her contract with her Winspace-Orange Seal squad.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old\u2019s most notable achievement this season was a surprise second place at Omloop Nieuwsblad after she broke away with Ark\u00e9a\u2013B&B Hotels\u2019s Lotte Claes.<\/p>\n

She posted her solicitor’s letter on Instagram, which says, \u2018We wish to clearly emphasise that Ms. Nerlo has never knowingly used any prohibited substance and, just as for you, the result is a huge surprise.<\/p>\n

\u2018We would like to point out that recently Ms. Nerlo has been tested multiple times (in March and April 2025 alone), and none of the test results showed the presence of a prohibited substance.<\/p>\n

\u2018At this point, we are primarily focused on determining the source of origin of the prohibited substance that we see [is] a contaminated product. For this purpose, the products used by Ms. Nerlo will be subjected to laboratory analysis. For the sake of the matter and until we obtain laboratory results for the tested products, we do not intend to comment on it further.\u2019<\/p>\n

Leo Hayter looking to return to professional cycling<\/p>\n

A year after he stepped away from cycling to prioritise his mental health, Leo Hayter is looking to return to the professional peloton. Hayter, who last rode for Ineos Grenadiers and is the younger brother of Ethan Hayter, penned a statement last August that detailed his struggle with depression, anxiety and disordered eating, and that he would put his career on pause.<\/p>\n

Now eyeing a way back to ride Chrono des Nations in October, Hayter wrote, \u2018As you may have seen, I announced recently that I\u2019m looking to rejoin the peloton in 2026. I\u2019m confident that I am in a place mentally that will allow that to be successful. Is everything perfect? No. But part of this process has been being at peace with the fact that it probably never will be. Learning ways to overcome those hard days, rather than beating myself up that they happen in the first place.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019d like to arrive on the podium, but to be honest I\u2019d be quite happy to just arrive and do my best performance on a time-trial bike. There\u2019s one hitch; since it\u2019s a UCI 1.1 category race, I must be riding for a Continental team or above to compete. I\u2019m looking for a team to give me a home for the race. I don\u2019t need any external support, or funding, I just need a jersey and an opportunity.<\/p>\n

‘Ideally, I would like to be able to use my own bike\/equipment. I can cover all the branding. In the end to perform at a TT of this level, if all the details aren\u2019t right you don\u2019t really have a chance. I bought my Pinarello last year and have put quite some hours into it, so to change everything so late in the year just wouldn\u2019t work.<\/p>\n
