There\u2019s a lot that happens in the roughly 90 minutes of screen time that it can be a lot to take in. Having said that, this was apparently intentional.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview shared by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ndw.jp\/mariogalaxymovie-interview-260424\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Nintendo Dream<\/a>, Miyamoto was asked about how which sorts of jokes and fan service would be included and whether the run time was a factor. Miyamoto started out by explaining that those at Illumination \u201cknow more about Super Mario than we do.\u201d He would go to explain that the goal was to make a movie that would keep both children and parents engaged, which is where the fast-paced nature comes in.<\/p>\n<p>Miyamoto explained (via machine translation):<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnother approach is to create things using small, partial units. For example, 30 units of 3 minutes each make up 90 minutes. And it\u2019s very similar to my own method; I don\u2019t make anything unnecessary, but I hardly throw anything away either. So, Illumination\u2019s technique involves a lot of swapping and rearranging of those units, creating something with incredible density.<\/p>\n<p>Another thing is, for example, parents sitting there out of a sense of responsibility for taking their children to the movie theater, or a story that\u2019s moving for the parents but the children are running around the theater. I\u2019ve always wanted to make a movie that isn\u2019t like that, so in that sense, I think it was good that we decided to make it a fast-paced 90 minutes that would be over in no time to catch your breath.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Miyamoto also <a href=\"https:\/\/nintendoeverything.com\/mario-galaxy-movie-negative-reviews-shigeru-miyamoto\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recently responded to the negative reviews<\/a> that the film has received.
