A 27-year-old man was seriously injured early Sunday morning in Montreal North, police say, when he was struck by a car as he exited his vehicle.<\/p>\n
The incident took place on L\u00e9ger Blvd. near Langelier Blvd., with authorities receiving 911 calls alerting them around 12:45 a.m.<\/p>\n
Police found the man \u201clying on the ground with serious injuries to his upper body,\u201d unconscious but breathing, spokesperson Johany Charland said.<\/p>\n
The man was transported to a hospital in critical condition, but Charland said his life is no longer considered to be in danger.<\/p>\n
The driver, a 20-year-old woman, was in shock when police arrived, but suffered no injuries.<\/p>\n
Police believe \u201cthe driver was travelling westbound on L\u00e9ger Blvd. while the victim was exiting his vehicle, which was parked on the side of the road,\u201d Charland said. \u201cThe driver reportedly struck him and he was thrown to the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n
Police are not treating the incident as a criminal act, Charland said. An investigation is underway.<\/p>\n
