Freddie Kraft showed a lot of support for Leigh Diffey, who calls NASCAR Cup Series races for NBC Sports. On the Door Bumper Clear<\/a> podcast, the spotter for Bubba Wallace defended Diffey\u2019s work in the NASCAR broadcast booth. <\/p>\n

\u201cLeigh Diffey is fantastic at his job,\u201d Freddie Kraft said. \u201cOne of the best in the business, and if you\u2019re going to say you don\u2019t like the guy because of his accent, that says more about you than it says about anybody else. <\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, his accent is fun for us. We\u2019ve had him on the show before. It\u2019s fun to give him s**t about it, and the people mix up. They are like, \u2018Oh, this British guy,\u2019 and he\u2019s obviously not British. I don\u2019t care what he sounds like. The guy does a great job there. He paints a picture better than almost anybody in our sport.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kraft continued: \u201cI don\u2019t want to harp on this because I know they get a lot of s**t. \u201cYou compare that broadcast to the one you had on Friday, I don\u2019t care what the guy sounds like, give me the guy that\u2019s on Sunday all the time. I don\u2019t understand the people that are coming after this guy just because he sounds a little different.\u201d\u2018<\/p>\n

Leigh Diffey has been with NBC Sports since 2013, but didn\u2019t start being the lead play-by-play voice for its NASCAR Cup Series coverage until last year<\/a>. Diffey was previously the lead IndyCar commentator for more than a decade and has also called races from Formula One, IMSA, Supercross and MotoGP.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t grow up dreaming of a career in motorsport broadcasting or sports broadcasting at all,\u201d Leigh Diffey said in an interview with NASCAR.com last year. <\/a>\u201cAt one stage of my career or one stage of my life, I thought I was going to be a farmer or work in agricultural economics because I studied agriculture at high school.\u201d<\/p>\n
