It is a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GroupamaFDJ\/status\/2050996504991605194\" rel=\"nofollow\">versatile group<\/a> \u2014 but one that, with all due respect, lacks a major name.It has not been a particularly impressive year for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idlprocycling.com\/groupama-fdj\" title=\"Groupama-FDJ\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Groupama-FDJ<\/a> so far. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idlprocycling.com\/romain-gregoire\" title=\"Romain Gr\u00e9goire\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Romain Gr\u00e9goire<\/a> provided a win at the Faun Dr\u00f4me Classic and Ewen Costiou delivered a stage win and the overall at the \u00c9toile de Bess\u00e8ges \u2014 but those three victories represent the team&#8217;s entire haul to date.Beyond that there have been plenty of strong results from Gr\u00e9goire \u2014 fourth at the Amstel Gold Race, fourth at Strade Bianche, second at Trofeo Laigueglia and seventh at Li\u00e8ge-Bastogne-Li\u00e8ge. The Frenchman is not among those heading to Bulgaria, however, where the Giro <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idlprocycling.com\/cycling\/giro-ditalia-2026-stages-preview-discover-every-stage-of-the-first-grand-tour-of-the-year\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">gets underway on Friday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Continue reading below the photo!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/romain-gregoire-69f83e61cec5a.jpg@webp.webp\" class=\"w-auto h-auto\" alt=\"romain-gregoire\"\/><\/p>\n<p>As expected, no Gr\u00e9goire in the Giro<\/p>\n<p>A versatile eight at the start in Bulgaria<\/p>\n<p>Who will fly the flag for the French team? Axel Huens, for one \u2014 the rider who joined from Unibet Rose Rockets over the winter and put together a solid spring with his new team. It will be Huens&#8217;s Grand Tour debut, as it will be for Josh Kench, the 24-year-old New Zealander.<\/p>\n<p>In the mountains, the team will rely primarily on R\u00e9my Rochas, who reached the top five twice at last year&#8217;s Giro. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idlprocycling.com\/cycling\/groupama-fdj-under-review-red-bull-and-bahrain-hijack-talents-so-pressure-will-soon-be-on-familiar-shoulders\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brieuc Rolland<\/a> is also counted on for the climbing work \u2014 the young talent who featured well at last year&#8217;s Vuelta (his Grand Tour debut) and finished third on two occasions.For the stage ten time trial, Groupama-FDJ United bring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idlprocycling.com\/remi-cavagna\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">R\u00e9mi Cavagna<\/a> as an outsider. He and the equally thirty-year-old <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idlprocycling.com\/cyril-barthe\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cyril Barthe<\/a> are the most experienced riders in the squad. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idlprocycling.com\/johan-jacobs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Johan Jacobs<\/a> also features, and last but not least <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idlprocycling.com\/paul-penhoet\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paul Penho\u00ebt<\/a> is the team&#8217;s sprinting option.
