Apple will unveil the next major Mac operating system at WWDC 2026 on June 8, marking the definitive end of Intel support and ushering in a new era of Apple silicon-powered, touch-ready computing. Thanks to Google Gemini integration, Siri can now reference your emails about flight changes or dig through Messages to find that restaurant reservation. It’s the kind of upgrade that makes you wonder what took so long.

Touch Interface Hiding in Plain Sight

Hidden touch optimizations prepare for rumored touchscreen MacBooks arriving early 2027.

Apple is quietly building touch support into macOS 27, though you won’t see it until those long-rumored touchscreen MacBook Pros materialize. When you tap future MacBook screens, contextual menus will appear around your finger, while traditional clicks shrink controls back to mouse-friendly sizes. Think iPad gestures meeting desktop precision. Apple’s keeping these features under wraps, but the groundwork suggests touchscreen Macs are closer than ever.

Snow Leopard Strategy Returns

Stability and performance take priority over flashy new features in this refinement-focused release.

macOS 27 embraces the “Snow Leopard” philosophy”—remember 2009’s beloved stability-focused update? The timing aligns perfectly with Apple’s rumored touchscreen MacBook Pro launch in early 2027.
