NASCAR <\/a>team over an unfulfilled business transaction.<\/p>\nThe lawsuit was filed on Thursday in Iredell County Superior Court by a Mooresville man who claims he paid Randy Humphrey Racing $50,000 for tractor-trailers and related equipment. The plaintiff states he made the payment in February 2024 but never received the items he purchased.<\/p>\n
Randy Humphrey Racing attempted to alter the purchase agreement without the plaintiff’s approval, according to the lawsuit.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The plaintiff is seeking his $50,000 back from Randy Humphrey Racing, along with any other damages deemed applicable. The team has not legally responded to the lawsuit, and no next court date has been set.<\/p>\n
Randy Humphrey Racing competed in eight races in the NASCAR Cup Series, all in 2014. The team’s owner, Randy Humphrey, was previously a co-owner of Phil Parsons Racing and TriStar Motorsports.<\/p>\n
Dave Blaney, Joe Nemechek, Nelson Piquet Jr., and Corey LaJoie competed for Randy Humphrey Racing during its brief run. The team was one of many start-and-park teams of the era, along with the Parsons and TriStar teams, among others, which dropped out shortly after the start of races.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Randy Humphrey Racing’s best finish in the NASCAR Cup Series was 26th with Piquet at Watkins Glen in 2014.<\/p>\n
Despite not competing for over a decade, the team remains a registered North Carolina business. The Cornelius-based company filed an annual report in January. The company was founded in 1995, shortly before Humphrey competed in the now-defunct NASCAR Goody’s Dash Series.<\/p>\n
