{"id":648815,"date":"2026-05-05T06:42:14","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T06:42:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/648815\/"},"modified":"2026-05-05T06:42:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T06:42:14","slug":"astros-catcher-yainer-diaz-sidelined-by-oblique-injury-headed-to-il","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/648815\/","title":{"rendered":"Astros catcher Yainer Diaz sidelined by oblique injury, headed to IL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HOUSTON \u2014 Houston catcher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/baseball\/mlb\/players\/yainer-diaz\/ca2dd733-f69d-481c-bffe-78219a34df21\" class=\"sn-player-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-player=\"ca2dd733-f69d-481c-bffe-78219a34df21\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Yainer Diaz<\/a> will be heading to the injured list with an oblique injury after hurting his left oblique during batting practice ahead of Monday&#8217;s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.<\/p>\n<p>Manager Joe Espada didn&#8217;t provide many details about the injury\u00a0after Houston&#8217;s 8-3 loss, but did say that \u201che&#8217;s going to require some IL time.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Diaz said he was injured during batting practice and went straight to the trainer&#8217;s room.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI made a swing and it bothered me.,\u201d he said in Spanish through a translator.<\/p>\n<p>Diaz said that he hasn&#8217;t had any imaging done nor has he been given a prognosis for the injury.
