Among them was one young driver rapidly climbing the <a href=\"https:\/\/thespun.com\/nascar\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:NASCAR;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;NASCAR&quot;}\" class=\"link \">NASCAR<\/a> ranks and representing the sport for the first time in decades.<\/p>\n<p>It was 23-year-old Carson Hocevar who turned heads in a Christian Dior suit at the Met Gala. I don\u2019t even know what it is. I think it\u2019s a little bit of a celebration of fashion and art. Doesn\u2019t matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need drivers, not all of them, we don\u2019t need them all going to this thing, we need one. We need one over here, one over there and one doing this thing and one doing that thing. He feels that if it &#8220;adds a little credibility to the sport where it had none,&#8221; then NASCAR is all the better for it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDoing those kind of things are a real privilege and a real opportunity to get out and not so much promote yourself, but really introduce the sport to a new audience,\u201d Earnhardt said. \u201cIt adds a little credibility to the sport where it had none. Just over a week ago he claimed his first-ever NASCAR Cup Series win at Talladega and followed that up by a seventh place finish at Texas Motor Speedway. He currently sits sixth on the NASCAR regular season standings and qualified for the Cup playoffs for the first time in his career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou throw these guys into those scenarios where they\u2019re totally a fish out of water and sometimes it doesn\u2019t go that well. But I think he did a good job.
