US Open this year, having last taken to the court at Wimbledon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/grigor-dimitrov\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dimitrov<\/a> was on the verge of a famous round of 16 win over Jannik Sinner, but retired hurt after injuring his pectoral muscle.<\/p>\n<p>The former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/atp\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ATP<\/a> number three has been limited to just 28 matches this season, and frustratingly remains sidelined for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n<p>Injury scares have been a common theme across the ATP and WTA tours ahead of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/us-open\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">US Open<\/a>, led by world number seven Qinwen Zheng.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/top-10-wta-player-confirms-shes-undergone-surgery-and-will-be-ruled-out-of-action-for-a-while\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Zheng has play at the US Open<\/a> despite her injury issues at the Cincinnati Open, with <a ironically lost to Dimitrov in Monte Carlo earlier this year, having previously picked up impressive wins against Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka.<\/p>\n<p>The Chilean is now set for just his third appearance at the US Open, where he has never made it beyond the second round.<\/p>\n<p>This year, he suffered first and second round exits at the Australian Open and French Open respectively, then
