The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says the fatal shooting on Monday at a Surrey business complex is believed to be targeted.<\/p>\n
Investigators add that the victim was a \u201cman in his 30s who was at his place of work at the time of the shooting.\u201d<\/p>\n
No suspect has been identified yet, and the motive is still to be determined.<\/p>\n
While police are saying the shooting was targeted, they are explaining that the victim had no reported history of receiving extortion threats.<\/p>\n
\u201cIHIT is working closely with the victim\u2019s family to establish background information and a timeline leading up to the shooting,\u201d investigators said.<\/p>\n
The Surrey Police Service responded to the shooting on Monday shortly after 3 p.m. at a business near 130th Street and 76 Avenue.<\/p>\n
\u201cUpon arrival, officers located a man apparently suffering from gunshot wounds and provided medical assistance until BC Emergency Health Service (BCEHS) arrived,\u201d Sgt. Lindsey Houghton said in a written statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cDespite life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced deceased on scene.\u201d<\/p>\n
IHIT is now seeking witness reports and dashcam footage from the area.<\/p>\n
\u201cInvestigators are actively pursuing a number of priority tasks to identify those involved,\u201d said Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT.<\/p>\n
