Valtteri Bottas<\/a> wore special race suits for the Miami weekend.<\/p>\n\u201cThe Cadillac Formula 1 Team\u2019s special Miami Grand Prix livery is a natural extension and speaks without excess,” said Chief Brand Advisor, Cassidy Towriss. “It’s deliberate and confident. This is our first home race, and it mattered to us that fans still recognise what they’ve come to know.”<\/p>\n
Off-track the team also turned heads, releasing F1-inspired Dunk Low trainers in collaboration with Nike, which mirrored the livery used on the cars.<\/p>\n
‘Crews Control’<\/p>\n
Actor Terry Crews was one of a plethora of celebrities to appear at the Miami Grand Prix, although the film and TV star was there as more than just a spectator.<\/p>\n
Crews has become a massive F1 fan in recent years and he was named as an official ambassador of Cadillac at the start of the season. As part of that remit he will front a YouTube series dubbed Crews Control, which will look at the American team’s journey during its maiden season of F1.<\/p>\n
“I’m joining the Cadillac F1 Team as they launch a brand new American team on the grid,” said Crews in a video promoting the series. “We’re going around the world, behind the scenes and right into the heart of the world’s fastest sport.”<\/p>\n
The series debuted on 5 May and also included a look at TWG Motorsports’ portfolio across F1 with Cadillac, as well as the IndyCar Series and NASCAR.<\/p>\n
Tapping into the Drive to Survive fanbase F1 has generated, the series is likely to be popular with both new and loyal motorsport fans, while also showcasing even more about the newest team in the sport.<\/p>\n
How did Cadillac perform and what’s next?<\/p>\n
On-track, Cadillac brought new upgrades after the break in racing between the Japanese Grand Prix and Miami. The hope was that the updates would move them closer to the midfield runners.<\/p>\n
It certainly looked that way, with plenty of onlookers praising the progress the team appeared to make in their fourth weekened in F1. Perez particularly impressed as he finished ahead of Alex Albon’s Williams and Lance Stroll’s Aston Martin in the Sprint, before splitting the Aston Martin’s again in the Grand Prix.<\/p>\n
What’s more, with both Perez and Bottas reaching the chequered flag in Sunday’s 57-lap Grand Prix, that makes it three consecutive races that both Cadillacs have made it to the finish during a new regulation era where reliability is no guarantee.<\/p>\n
There’s no getting away from the daunting challenge ahead for F1’s newest team. There’s a lot of ground to make up compared with their experienced rivals but the initial signs are promising. In Perez and Bottas they also have two drivers who have done it all in F1 and a driver combination committed to helping Cadillac move up the grid.<\/p>\n
“It’s a project for us,” said Bottas. “For me, the pleasure is now seeing progress. That’s the carrot, that’s the trophy at the end, if we improve.<\/p>\n
“But it’s still a long way to go, [we] still need to make big steps. In my mind, I’m thinking quite a lot ahead and that is the motivation.”<\/p>\n
Towriss is under no illusions that life in F1 will continue to prove a huge challenge for Cadillac either, but now they have ticked off another important milestone.<\/p>\n
“We want to continue to push and find ways to move up and compete with more cars,” he said. “This is an ambitious team, it’s an ambitious group. You talk to Sergio and Valtteri, it’s push, push, push.
