LIV Golf player Bryson DeChambeau said Tuesday that he is \u201cprepared to grow his YouTube channel\u201d and \u201cplay in tournaments that want him\u201d if the tour cannot survive beyond this season<\/a>, according to Mark Schlabach of ESPN.com. DeChambeau said that he \u201chad some conversations with the PGA Tour,\u201d but \u201cnot specifically about what his potential pathway back to his former circuit might look like if LIV folds.\u201d DeChambeau said, \u201cI\u2019d love to grow my YouTube channel three times, maybe even more.\u201d He added, \u201cI\u2019d love to do a bunch of dubbing in different languages, giving the world more reason to watch YouTube. And then I\u2019d love to play tournaments that want me.\u201d DeChambeau suggested that the PGA Tour is \u201cprepared to hit him with severe penalties\u201d if he wants to come back, though he did not \u201cget into specifics.\u201d He also \u201cdescribed potential punishment from the PGA Tour as \u2018quite unfortunate in my opinion, considering what I could do for them.\u2019\u201d DeChambeau said that he is \u201cconfident\u201d that LIV Golf CEO Scott O\u2019Neil and the league\u2019s new independent BOD<\/a> and advisers<\/a> will \u201cdevelop a solid business plan that will attract new investors.\u201d DeChambeau: \u201cThere\u2019s a few different models. Look, the [PGA Tour] isn\u2019t doing great either. Let\u2019s be honest about the situation. They\u2019ve got the media. They\u2019ve got everybody on the side that helps pump it up. But they\u2019re reducing field sizes, cutting employees and restructuring their business too\u201d (ESPN.com, 5\/5<\/a>).<\/p>\n

HOLDING ON TO HOPE: In London, James Corrigan notes DeChambeau was \u201cholding out for a new<\/a>\u201d $500M deal with LIV before recent upheavals, with his contract set to expire \u201cat the climax of this season in August.\u201d Those figures would \u201clikely be unfeasible as LIV frantically searches for other funding<\/a> to ensure it can start the 2027 season.” But O\u2019Neil is \u201cunderstandably desperate to have the big-hitter in his corner when he goes to market with his business plan\u201d (London TELEGRAPH, 5\/6<\/a>).<\/p>\n

FEW HURDLES: SI\u2019s Bob Harig wrote DeChambeau \u201ccould join the DP World Tour<\/a> at the end of this year and be fully exempt\u201d as a winner of the 2024 U.S. Open. DeChambeau, who was told he would be exempt next year, said that he \u201cwondered if there would be stipulations.\u201d DeChambeau: \u201cI don\u2019t have any control over the policies they make. … I\u2019d also like to do YouTube videos around it too. How great would that be? I\u2019d love to promote the events and grow the events and collab with people and really create an amazing experience for juniors. Our demographic for golf is what? You know what the age is? It\u2019s 60-plus, right?
