Time is running out for Brampton kids and teens to get free Brampton Transit passes and access to drop-in programs this summer.<\/p>\n
Registration is open for the city\u2019s Explore Brampton Youth Passes, which lets Brampton youth between the ages of 12 and 16 ride free on Brampton Transit and connect them with city-run recreation programs.<\/p>\n
But there are just 2,500 Explore Brampton Youth Passes available again this year, with sign-up closing soon.<\/p>\n
The deadline is May 17 at 5 p.m. Brampton youth born between Sept. 2, 2010 and September 1, 2014 are eligible to apply.<\/p>\n
Pass holders will have free access to Brampton Transit services and Recreation drop-in programs including swimming, skating, and select sports from July 1 to Sept. 6.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Explore Brampton Youth Pass supports the City\u2019s commitment to building a Healthy and Safe City and a City of Opportunities, giving young residents the freedom to stay active, connect with their community and explore everything Brampton has to offer,\u201d the city says of the program.<\/p>\n
Priority will be given to vulnerable youth, through the ActiveAssist Program, the Region of Peel\u2019s Affordable Transit Program, the Region of Peel\u2019s Neighbourhood Information Tool, and referrals from youth-serving providers and outreach.<\/p>\n
Youth accepted into the program will need to watch a brief orientation video and visit select Brampton Recreation centres to pick up their pass. Program participants will also be asked to complete a brief survey at the end of the program about their experience.\u200b<\/p>\n
