{"id":652419,"date":"2026-05-06T22:10:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T22:10:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/652419\/"},"modified":"2026-05-06T22:10:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T22:10:08","slug":"pool-party-watermelon-smash-among-bc-lions-game-themes-for-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/652419\/","title":{"rendered":"Pool party, watermelon smash among BC Lions game themes for 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>              Pool party, watermelon smash among BC Lions game themes for 2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"pubStamp\">Published 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 6, 2026<\/p>\n<p>The 72nd season of BC Lions football features some new game themes and promotions when the team returns to BC Place Stadium following the FIFA World Cup men\u2019s soccer tournament.<\/p>\n<p>The Lions start their CFL season with \u201chome\u201d games in Langford (May 23) and Kelowna (June 27 and July 4).<\/p>\n<p>For their first game back at BC Place (July 25 vs. Toronto, 4 p.m. kickoff), a pre-game party will involve a giant pool on Robson Street, free barbecue on Terry Fox Plaza, $5 beers all game long and \u201cspecial surprises for our outstanding fans\u201d until the final whistle. \u201cIt will be a city-wide celebration as we reclaim our home turf,\u201d says a Lions news release hyping the 2026 summer\/fall schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Their seven games at Save-On-Foods Field at BC Place include a FamFest for families (Aug. 8 vs. Hamilton), an annual watermelon smash (Aug. 23 vs. Saskatchewan) and a \u201creal\u201d tailgate party with food trucks, live music and car show (Sept. 12 vs. Montreal).
