returning the proclamation made in my honour back to Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim.<\/p>\n<p>The Mayor proclaimed May 29, 2024 as \u201cGuy Felicella Day\u201d in honour of my work advocating for \u201cBOTH target=\"_blank\">May 6, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Felicella, a harm reduction and recovery advocate, said in a social media post that he does not want May 29 to be known as Guy Felicella Day anymore.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>He said that Vancouver Mayor <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/ken-sim\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ken Sim<\/a> and his ABC council do not understand what it takes to recover from toxic, illicit drugs or the work required to save lives.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"170\" height=\"225\" in Vancouver with substance use disorder under the bus when he promised to prevent a much-needed Overdose Prevention Site from opening in downtown Vancouver,\u201d Felicella ABC councillors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This announcement comes after Sim said he <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/11831551\/vancouver-only-overdose-prevention-site-new-location\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">opposes the relocation of an overdose prevention site<\/a> on Helmcken Street in Vancouver\u2019s city centre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVancouver will not support solutions that fail both those who are struggling and the communities around them,\u201d Sim said in a release on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have seen the disastrous impact when OPS sites are introduced without the right
