The Cleveland Browns<\/a> may have their sights set on a Shedeur Sanders replacement in the 2026 NFL supplemental draft. While the supplemental draft isn\u2019t guaranteed, if it does take place, it\u2019d be sometime in July, and the Browns could reportedly select Texas Tech Red Raiders<\/a> quarterback Brendan Sorsby.<\/p>\n

Per 850 ESPN Cleveland\u2019s Tony Grossi<\/a>, \u201cThe Browns are among the teams putting in work on Sorsby, per a source.\u201d Sorsby was recently placed in a rehab program by Texas Tech after it was discovered he placed numerous bets over a several-year span<\/a>, beginning with his time with the Indiana Hoosiers and through his Cincinnati Bearcats career.<\/p>\n

Sorsby recently hired super lawyer Jeffrey Kessler<\/a> to maintain his eligibility and fend off any suspension or expulsion. Cleveland may not get the chance to replace Sanders, Dillon Gabriel, and\/or Taylen Green with a 2026 NFL draft day two-caliber talent like Sorsby.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, luck should be in Sorsby\u2019s corner when his case is heard; mainly because, per USA Today\u2019s Matt Hayes<\/a>, \u201cAny potential eligibility lawsuit from Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby against the NCAA will be heard in the Lubbock District Court, two people close to the process told USA TODAY Sports.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSorsby, two people told USA TODAY Sports, is still trying to get a favorable answer from the NCAA before using litigation. Because of a compacted timeline, Sorsby needs an eligibility decision soon from the NCAA in case he must petition the NFL to be part of a supplemental draft,\u201d Hayes added.<\/p>\n

Sanders and several of his Browns counterparts in the QB room will be watching that decision closely. Especially as Sanders finds himself embroiled in his own controversy<\/a>, spurred on by his brother Shilo\u2019s biting comments in response to the Plain Dealer\u2019s Mary Kay Cabot, who both reported that Sanders isn\u2019t looking like QB1 material in Cleveland, and shared an opinion that Deshaun Watson should definitively start over him.
