For Bill, attending Supper Club has been a regular part of his social calendar for three years. From the beginning, he felt a sense of belonging.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s given me a lot of opportunity to connect with people like myself,\u201d he says. \u201cThis place also helped me with my confidence, feeling like a normal human being and being part of a truly amazing community. I would be lost without a community like this.\u201d
Manitoba Possible\u2019s 825 Sherbrook Street location was built 60 years ago. Back then, it stood as a leader in accessible design. But time has started to show itself in the small space, outdated accessibility, and the whisk that can no longer do its job.<\/p>\n
Today, there is again an opportunity to build a new home for Manitoba Possible\u2014one that shows what\u2019s possible when accessibility and inclusion are shaped by lived experience and built into the design from the very start.<\/p>\n
Manitoba Possible\u2019s Breaking Barriers Campaign will transform 1680 Notre Dame Avenue into a model of accessibility. At the heart of it will be a space built for programs like Supper Club to thrive \u2014 a 1,800-square-foot Community Kitchen with accessibility woven into every detail.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen we began imagining a new space for Manitoba Possible, a welcoming and accessible community gathering place was one of the most critical needs,\u201d says Manitoba Possible CEO, Lindsey Cooke. \u201cWhen spaces are designed for everyone, our whole community becomes stronger. The kitchen will be an example of that. It\u2019ll be a welcoming place to connect and see what truly inclusive, purpose-built design can make possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
The redevelopment of 1680 Notre Dame Avenue is not simply a capital project; it is a visible demonstration of what is possible when community works together to remove barriers.<\/p>\n
