\t\t\t\tJon Rahm\u2019s lengthy dispute with the DP World Tour has finally come to an end\u2026<\/p>\n
Jon Rahm has backed down in his prolonged dispute with the DP World Tour after finally agreeing to a deal that will make him eligible for the 2027 Ryder Cup<\/a>. <\/p>\n The Spaniard\u2019s presence at next year\u2019s showdown in Ireland had been in increasing doubt after a long standoff over suspensions and unpaid fines for competing in LIV Golf events. <\/p>\n Rahm had been steadfastly refusing to settle his outstanding fines as he believed he was being sanctioned unfairly by Wentworth HQ. He even accused the DP World Tour of \u201cextorting\u201d its own players<\/a> in March after rejecting a deal that would have allowed him to play in LIV events without incurring fines.<\/p>\n Eight LIV players, including Rahm\u2019s Legion XII teammate Tyrrell Hatton, agreed to settle their fines and play in additional stipulated events to get special conditional releases from the circuit back in February. And despite initially criticising the same offer, Rahm has now eventually agreed to a very similar deal.<\/p>\n He will pay his outstanding fines, believed to have reached over $2.5million, albeit playing in only five DP World Tour events this season in order to end the stalemate. Rahm had initially refused to play in six events at the tour\u2019s discretion \u2013 two more than the minimum for retaining membership \u2013 but he will now play just one fewer. It\u2019s understood the DP World Tour agreed to Rahm playing five instead of six on a pro-rata basis as he has already been sanctioned three times this season for participating in conflicting LIV tournaments.<\/p>\n Rahm revealed he had reached the agreement ahead of this week\u2019s LIV stop in Virginia.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s no longer a standoff,\u201d he told reporters at Trump National. \u201cWe were able to reach an agreement. \u201cThere was some concessions on both sides. I offered some, they extended an olive branch. Obviously we\u2019ve reached an agreement. That will not be a stress anymore.<\/p>\n \u201cThere was some things I believed in that I wanted them to agree with me, and I knew it was a matter of time. I also understand they have their bylaws and their way to go about things and they have to follow certainly procedures, and things are never as easy or as fast as you would think they would be, or at least I would have liked, but I was never worried.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Ryder Cup is still really, really far away, but I\u2019m happy that hopefully I won\u2019t have to think about any worries or any predicaments come Adare Manor or hopefully ever. I want to support the DP World Tour. There\u2019s a lot of events I want to play.\u201d<\/p>\n The DP World Tour sent a statement to TG detailing the agreement. \u201cThe DP World Tour and Jon Rahm have come to an agreement on conditional releases to play in conflicting tournaments on LIV Golf during the remainder of its 2026 season,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n \u201cThis involves payment of all outstanding fines accrued from 2024 to date, along with participation in agreed DP World Tour tournaments (outside the Majors) in the remainder of the 2026 season.\u201d<\/p>\n Rahm\u2019s change of heart has intriguingly only come in recent days. The bombshell news<\/a> that the LIV league is about to lose its Saudi Arabian funding \u2013 with TG reporting that several players have been sounding out other tours<\/a> due to the league\u2019s uncertain future \u2013 has perhaps sharpened minds. <\/p>\n Just last week at the Turkish Airlines Open, DP World Tour chief executive Guy Kinnings told TG: \u201cOur position hasn\u2019t changed with Jon.
