The Town of Winnipeg Beach is at a temporary standstill when it comes to official council business.<\/p>\n
Councillor Doug Jarvis resigned on April 30, leaving the town council without enough members to meet quorum requirements.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
As a result, council is unable to hold official meetings or pass decisions.<\/p>\n
Province steps in<\/p>\n
The Province of Manitoba has been notified of the situation and is expected to appoint a new administrator in the near future to oversee the town’s operations under The Municipal Act.<\/p>\n
Once that process is in place, the remaining council members, including Mayor Stan Potten, will be deemed to have resigned and will be required to step down, allowing for a reset of municipal governance.<\/p>\n
What happens next<\/p>\n
Officials say the situation is being monitored closely, and updates will be shared with the public as they become available.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, the town is thanking residents for their patience during the process.<\/p>\n
