Response Team (ASIRT) has been called in to investigate the circumstances leading up to a 16-year-0ld girl being bitten by a <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/calgary-police-dog\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Calgary police dog<\/a> during a break-and-enter investigation.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The alleged circumstances leading up to the incident were laid out in a written release from the Alberta Police Review Commission on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>It happened around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 3, as officers were responding to an alarm at Glamorgan School in the city\u2019s southwest.<\/p>\n<p>When police arrived, they found evidence of forced entry to the building, including a smashed window and broken glass.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tAlberta\u2019s Police Review Commission said the girl was bitten by the police dog during an investigation into a break-and-enter at Glamorgan School in southwest Calgary.\t\t\t\t <\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tGlobal News\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>The responding officers called for backup, which included a police canine unit.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>They briefly withdrew from the school before re-entering the building with the police dog.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<img you won&#8217;t miss a trending story.<\/p>\n<p>Officers announced their presence and continued to search for suspects.<\/p>\n<p>A short time later, the dog located a suspect and bit her during the following encounter.<\/p>\n<p>Emergency Medical Services paramedics were called in and the girl was transported to Alberta Children\u2019s Hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Alberta\u2019s Police Review Commission has directed ASIRT to investigate whether the actions of officers were justified.<\/p>\n<p>ASIRT is asking anyone who has any relevant video recordings or information about the incident to
