{"id":655226,"date":"2026-05-08T04:31:21","date_gmt":"2026-05-08T04:31:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/655226\/"},"modified":"2026-05-08T04:31:21","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T04:31:21","slug":"edmonton-churchill-lrt-incident-leads-to-weapons-charges-for-man-with-lengthy-criminal-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/655226\/","title":{"rendered":"Edmonton Churchill LRT incident leads to weapons charges for man with lengthy criminal record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the fatal stabbing of a gang member nine years ago has been charged in connection with an incident last weekend at the Churchill LRT Station.<\/p>\n<p>Skylar McGilvery, 30, was arrested on the evening of April 26 after allegedly interfering with paramedics who were helping an individual at the station.<\/p>\n<p>The Edmonton Police Service says officers found a firearm in McGilvery\u2019s backpack, which breached a lifetime firearms ban.<\/p>\n<p>The charges against McGilvery include possession of a prohibited firearm and careless use of a firearm. Those allegations against him have not been tested in court.<\/p>\n<p>A court check by CityNews shows McGilvery has an extensive criminal record.
