Justin Baldoni\u2019s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, claimed Blake Lively settled her lawsuit<\/a> with her \u201cIt Ends With Us\u201d co-star and director because she was \u201cscared\u201d to testify at trial.<\/p>\n

Freedman made the surprising claim as Lively continues to seek attorneys\u2019 fees and damages<\/a> connected with Baldoni\u2019s dismissed $400 million countersuit<\/a> against her.<\/p>\n

\u201cPart of the reason Blake settled is because she was scared to take the witness stand at trial,\u201d the attorney told TMZ<\/a> on Thursday. \u201cShe did not want to face cross-examination by anyone because that would require her to tell the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cBlake lied about telling Sony to destroy the dailies. She lied that she never told\u00a0[\u2018It Ends With Us\u2019 author] Colleen Hoover\u00a0to unfollow Justin Baldoni. In her deposition, Colleen said Blake asked her to unfollow him. And there were more lies.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Freedman\u2019s comments didn\u2019t end there, because the lawyer went on to slam the 38-year-old actress over the outcome of the pair\u2019s ugly 18-month legal battle.<\/p>\n

He went on, \u201cIf she\u2019s doing this for survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment and retaliation, as she says, then why don\u2019t you take the stand at trial and prove it to the world? A trial would have exposed her lies and the entire smear she was talking about in her interviews that she did.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response, Lively\u2019s team told TMZ that they \u201cguess\u201d Baldoni is \u201cno longer \u2018ecstatic\u2019 about the settlement.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Page Six has reached out to Lively\u2019s reps for further comment.<\/p>\n

The feuding \u201cIt Ends With Us\u201d co-stars agreed to settle their nasty legal battle on Monday, two weeks before the case was set to begin trial on May 18 and a month after a judge\u00a0tossed out 10 of Lively\u2019s 13 claims<\/a> against Baldoni.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe end product \u2014 the movie \u2018It Ends With\u00a0Us\u2019 \u2014 is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life,\u201d both sides said in a joint statement to Page Six after the surprise settlement.<\/p>\n

\u201cRaising awareness, and\u00a0making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors \u2014 and all survivors \u2014 is a goal that we stand behind,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n

The settlement came a month after a judge tossed out 10 of Lively\u2019s 13 claims against her former director (seen here with his wife arriving at court). Lone Pine Press for NY Post<\/p>\n

Although Page Six learned that the pair\u00a0spent a combined $60 million<\/a>\u00a0suing one another, and\u00a0neither saw a dime<\/a>\u00a0in the settlement, Lively\u2019s legal team called the agreement a \u201cresounding victory.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBy agreeing to this settlement, and waiving their right to appeal, Justin Baldoni and every individual defendant now face personal liability for abusing the legal system to silence and intimidate Ms. Lively,\u201d the \u201cA Simple Favor\u201d star\u2019s team told Page Six in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom day one Blake Lively\u2019s mission was clear: expose and hold accountable those who weaponize smear campaigns and retaliatory lawsuits to intimidate and silence survivors,\u201d they added. \u201cThat mission continues.\u201d<\/p>\n
